Summit 2019!

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like we just got back from Phoenix? It seems I am starting to plan earlier and earlier each year. Regardless, I am so excited for Orlando this year I can hardly contain my excitement. This may have to do with my Disney obsession as well.

I wanted to open up some dialogue about the recent Sponsorship package that was released. I know Nancy, Liz, & Team are hard at work answering all of our questions about Summit sponsorship's, but are there any questions the community has now? Perhaps something more marketing related that the community can help solve?

One thing I am curious about - when do you start planning your booth, booth staff, and marketing strategy? When do you start notifying clients about early bird pricing and special partner discount codes? Is it ever too early?

    Thanks!

It's never too early - If I was in your shoes - I would have had an article in November and December saying - called "Budget for Summit!"
Often you hear of members who want to come - but they didn't have budget.  so that is my first suggestion.  Still might be a good article or blog - securing budget from management now.  It's early bird time

I looked and the partner marketing materials are not out yet.  So that will be helpful when that happens - as GPUG has some great marketing tools and artwork to leverage.

One way to get the plan together is to start planning and learning.  Jon Rivers and I did a webinar for sponsors a couple of years ago - I think it has some valuable content.  Look up the recording:

Are you Fishing or Hunting at Summit? 10 Steps that Every Partner Can Follow (July 2017)

I know when we did it - I heard from clients say that they wished they heard it earlier.  So that might be a tangible activity to get you started.

In the library - Natalie put in a great marketing template - great time to start documenting what needs to be done then.  Making the planning a lot less stressful.

Sort of related, but this got me thinking about Summit and I just checked and hotel booking is open. They haven't announced it yet, but I'm sure the host hotel will fill up fast anyways. I would have posted this in the Summit community, but I don't think they've created it yet...?

I also was going to start investigating packages to stay at Disney later. It would be cool if they offered some deals to the attendees.

I can relate to your excitement Michael, I am actually planning to stop at both Disney and Universal for a day while i'm down there for Summit.

We start planning for Summit near the end of the year as we compose our marketing budget. We figure out our planned spending on sponsorship, the number of staff attending and the costs associated with it. Then when the sponsor prospectus becomes available we continue our planning. We typically wait to start actively promoting the event until after Focus and our own learning event are complete. But we try to distribute key event information asap after it becomes available. Then between July-October is when we really start to actively promote the conference throughout are various marketing channels.

Thanks for sharing Kim. We already have locked in our sponsor package and got the hotel rooms done this morning.

P.S. I'm kinda new to the CMA. but I look forward to getting more involved and meeting some of you at Summit.
